South African lighting designer Oliver Hauser used two manually operated Robert Juliat ARTHUR 1014LT followspots for My Favourite Broadway, starring Jonathan Roxmouth and produced by Howard Events at the Teatro at Montecasino. Despite the show’s advanced technical setup, Roxmouth preferred a manual followspot as the main key light. Hauser highlighted Robert Juliat’s reliability, optical quality and operator-friendly design, noting that skilled followspotters can respond more naturally and precisely to performers’ movement and emotion. The ARTHUR 1014LT, designed for long throws, offers a tight 4°–10° zoom, strong output, high CRI (>94) and quiet operation. Ultimately, the choice of manual followspots was driven by both practical and artistic reasons, ensuring flexibility, real-time adaptation and a human touch that supported the performance without overshadowing it.
